Some of you are relatively new to the Association for Science in Autism Treatment (ASAT) and our offerings, whereas others have been looking to us as a source of high-quality information for many years. This upcoming holiday season is a wonderful time to make a pledge to ASAT. Join the effort of thousands of Facebook users raising money and awareness for causes they care about. With the many causes out there, we are hoping that many of you will choose ASAT as the one to support!

What better way to celebrate than to keep science front and center?         

ASAT’s mission is to support safe, effective, science-based treatments for people with autism by sharing accurate, timely, and scientifically sound information. This also involves countering inaccurate and false information about autism and its treatment so that family members and providers alike can make informed choices. If you subscribe to our newsletter or read through our website, you are probably familiar with our mission and offerings: We work tirelessly to ensure that science remains at the forefront of every conversation about autism treatment. If you would like to help support our important work through Facebook Fundraising, please see the simple steps below!

Ready to pledge your birthday, special event, or other holiday?

It only takes a few moments to create your own Facebook campaign. You can even add photos or a quick video to your fundraiser page if you’d like. Next, you can send the fundraiser link to friends and family via email or Facebook Messenger, asking them to donate to ASAT Don’t worry, Facebook makes all of this automatic and easy to do!

Follow these simple steps to publish your own Fundraiser for ASAT:

      1. On your computer, login to Facebook.
      2. Upon opening the homepage, click on the menu icon (9 squares).
      3.  Under Create scroll down to Fundraisers.
      4. Click the Fundraisers button.
      5. When prompted to choose a fundraiser type, click Nonprofit. You may also be given the opportunity to simply search.  You can either:
        • Scroll to find ASAT – Association for Science in Autism Treatment OR
        • Type “ASAT – Association for Science in Autism Treatment” into the search bar to find us.
      6. You will be directed to either a desktop preview or a mobile preview of the ASAT Facebook homepage.
      7. On the left sidebar under Details, enter:
        1. The goal amount of money you want to raise (under “How much money do you want to raise?”).
        2. The currency you want the funds to be in (under “Select currency”).
        3. The date you want your fundraiser to end.
        4. Any other customized details you would like to include (e.g., “What’s the title of your fundraiser?” or “Why are you raising money?”).
      8. Click Create. You will see a screen pop-up where you can invite your friends to donate to your fundraiser, share your fundraiser in your news feed, or donate to the fundraiser yourself. If you are not ready to do any of those things, click Not now.
      9. Spread the word about your campaign. Share your personalized campaign link with your community—whether through email, social media, text, or any platform you prefer. Invite friends, family, co-workers, and supporters to learn about your cause and contribute to ASAT in whatever way they can.

Sample # 1:

This year is my 30th birthday! I’m raising funds for the Association for Science in Autism Treatment (www.asatonline.org)—an organization that’s close to my heart. As many of you know, my son is autistic, and thanks to high-quality, evidence-based intervention, he’s thriving. Watching him grow and flourish has been the greatest gift of my life.

But not every family has access to the kind of care that’s grounded in science and proven to help. That’s why I’m supporting ASAT. They work tirelessly to ensure that families and providers have access to accurate, timely, and scientifically sound information about autism treatment—while also challenging misinformation that can lead people down harmful paths.

ASAT plays a vital role in promoting safe, effective, science-based treatments for individuals with autism. They provide families, practitioners, and policymakers with accurate, timely, and high-quality information—while actively countering misinformation that can undermine progress and harm vulnerable populations.
