Recent Accomplishments

We are thrilled to share some of the outstanding accomplishments of the Association for Science in Autism Treatment (ASAT) this year:

    • Released 84th Monthly Issue of Science in Autism Treatment (SIAT): Each issue addressed topics crucial to both consumers and professionals, ensuring our community stays informed and engaged.
    • Expanded Inclusive Content the Autism Spectrum: We remained steadfast in addressing all levels of ability and need within the autism community, ensuring newly published content is relevant, accessible, and high quality. Also expanded upon our Perspectives section that shares impact stories from families, practitioners, and individuals with autism who have benefited from evidence-based practices.
    • Published Articles Relevant to the Entire Lifespan: We have successfully ensured that at least one quarter of our published content highlights the needs and experiences of adolescents and adults with ASD, demonstrating our sustained commitment to representing the entire lifespan.
    • Created and Distributed Educational Print Materials: Distributed targeted flyers to teachers and pediatricians, strengthening their ability to support families with ASAT resources. We have a Spanish version of our teacher flyer.
    • Made 25+ Treatment Summaries Available: Our Scientific Review Committee recently published over 25 treatment summaries, which were disseminated via our newsletter and website.
    • Expanded Multilingual Outreach Materials to 25+ Languages: With the most recent addition of Tamil, Telugu, and Swahili, we offer translated newsletter and website flyers in 27 languages. This covers the most spoken languages of the world, such as Arabic, French, Hindi, Spanish, and Mandarin.
    • Enhanced Website Resources: We continued to use internal hashtags to help website visitors locate other content related to their search. We expanded specialized pages for behavior analysts and faculty members creating a more robust resource hub.
    • Strengthened Social Media Engagement: Our active presence on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and X (formerly twitter) kept our community connected and informed. These social media outlets offer diverse ways for our members and others to interact with ASAT.
    • Responded to Media Representations: We continued to publish over two dozen Media Corner Letters in the last two years, ensuring an accurate representation of autism treatment in the media.
    • Expanded Board Leadership: We proudly added two new members to our Board of Directors—Kaitlyn Evoy, MSEd (Illinois), and Aboli Jadhav, BE (India). We are very grateful to Frank Cicero, PhD, BCBA, and Nicole Stewart, MSEd, BCBA, for their prior service as members of our Board of Directors.
    • Continued Externship Program: Since its inception in 2012, we have provided externship experiences to over 60 individuals who are delivering evidence-based services to families and teachers throughout the world. Five Externs have graduated in 2025 (Kyle Hummel, Seirra Mitchell, Smrithi Thyagarajan, Dr. Angela Furhmann-Knowles, and Simon Celiberti-Byam) and at least four more are poised to graduate in early 2026.
    • Refined Externship Training Materials: Our training modules and activities for the Externship experience were further developed, providing valuable learning opportunities across important skills sets such as writing, proofreading, responding to media representations, and evaluating research.
    • Created Shareable Memes: We have continued to populate the page of shareable memes on our website. There are four subsections in English followed by seven translated pages featuring Spanish, Arabic, French, Hindi, Telugu, Marathi, and Tamil
    • Collaborated with Professional Organizations: We have continued to publish monthly blogs with diverse professional organizations such as Different Roads to Learning, the NJABA, and APBA.
    • Expanded Sponsorship Nationally & Internationally: We successfully recruited several new sponsors both in North America and abroad, making 2025 another successful year for sponsorship campaigns and broadening our impact nationally and internationally.

The dedication and hard work of our community are truly inspiring. Here’s to another year of advancing science-based autism treatment together!

Our 2026 Goals

With your help, we are excited to work toward these goals in the year ahead organized around the following three themes:

Creating New Content

ASAT remains committed to delivering evidence‑based, compassionate, and accessible resources for the autism community. Our focus is on developing and expanding content that meets the needs of families, professionals, and individuals across the lifespan, while ensuring all content remains free of charge, accessible, and high‑quality.

    • Deliver diverse, high‑quality content through our monthly publication, Science in Autism Treatment, and our website
    • Expand resources for individuals and family members from diagnosis through adulthood.
    • Revamp pediatrician and healthcare provider pages with new printable family materials.
    • Further develop our existing page for teachers.
    • Host continuing education opportunities (webinars, panels, journal clubs) on best practices and ethical service delivery.
    • Expand upon our Lifespan section with targeted resources for different age groups, including adolescents, adults, and seniors with autism.
    • Develop an annotated repository highlighting position statements and task force reports.

Making More People Aware of Our Offerings

To maximize impact, ASAT will broaden its reach globally and strengthen its digital presence. By leveraging social media, partnerships, and multilingual outreach, we aim to ensure that individuals with autism, their families, students, and professionals worldwide can access our resources.

    • Grow SIAT’s international subscriber base.
    • Boost engagement across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X to highlight offerings like the Externship.
    • Increase ASAT’s visibility on the websites of other related organizations.
    • Translate our newsletter and website flyers into additional languages. Look for upcoming flyers to be added to our library of 25+ languages.
    • Create short, visually engaging infographics and video content for social media platforms.

Building Capacity

ASAT’s strength lies in its people and partnerships. We will expand our human resources, cultivate collaborations, and diversify sponsorships to ensure long‑term sustainability and global influence.

    • Expand upon our Professional Advisory Board with additional medical professionals and tap more extensively into the wealth of experience and expertise of our members.
    • Strengthen collaborations with organizations, teacher associations, pediatric groups, and parent leaders worldwide.
    • Cultivate relationships with faculty from universities here in the United States and internationally.
    • Create opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students to learn more about science-based autism treatment and possibly serve in a liaison role working on shared projects.
    • Broaden our efforts to be a helpful resource to the journalism community.
    • Expand our sponsorship solicitation efforts to secure 100 professional sponsors both in North America and abroad.
    • Diversify our sponsors and look at ways to bring on new sponsors from different sectors and industries (e.g., state autism associations, advocacy groups, law practices, technology, medicine, etc.).
