David Celiberti, PhD, BCBA-D
Association for Science in Autism Treatment
As we celebrate the important milestone of our 25th anniversary, we are provided with an opportunity to look beyond those who have served on our Board of Directors and our Professional Advisory Board and reflect on the countless other volunteers who have shared their time and talent with ASAT. It is with great pleasure that we start an initiative of formal recognition with an individual who has served ASAT since 2011 and is one of our longest serving volunteers. Caroline Simard, MS, BCBA from Winnipeg, Canada joined Team ASAT as our Newsletter Content Coordinator to assist us with the proofreading of our quarterly publication, Science in Autism Treatment. At that time, our quarterly issues were voluminous often over 40 pages long.
From the outset, Caroline was an active member and had a keen eye for enhancing written clarity and finding typos that could easily have slipped by the rest of us. Yet, she always provided that feedback to authors with humility and kindness. She soon expanded her volunteer role to helping coordinate and compile proofreading efforts and eventually working with our newer Externs on their editing skills, particularly how to use track changes, grasp the ever-evolving APA format, and proofreading. Pivoting from a quarterly schedule to a monthly schedule in 2019 did not scare Caroline away and she has remained an active member of our team. It is not an exaggeration when we share that Caroline has proofread hundreds of articles.
Caroline also plays a vital role in helping us get our newly published content into the hands of more readers. Following the publication of each issue of the newsletter, Caroline circulates pre-written social media posts to a small group of individuals who post our content on their preferred social media platforms. In addition to those important roles, she has authored a few articles as shown below. Caroline is warm, collaborative, and collegial and is well liked by all.
In her day job, Caroline is a Service Delivery Manager for Autism Programs at St.Amant in Winnipeg, Canada. Her diverse duties include helping parents of newly diagnosed preschool children with ASD better understand the services offered in the Autism Programs at St.Amant, updating funders on services provided and wait lists, as well as overseeing Senior Tutors and the administrative aspects of consultative supports for school-age children.
Merci, Caroline for all you do for us! We are blessed to have you as part of our team.
