Association for Science in Autism Treatment

The Association for Science in Autism Treatment (ASAT) is committed to making evidence-based information about autism treatment accessible to families, professionals, and others in the autism community. To help readers find content relevant to their interests and needs, we use a system of more than 50 internal hashtags across our website. Introduced in 2023, these hashtags appear in green on all content published since the initiative began. Unlike social media hashtags, which are often used to increase visibility and connect posts across platforms, ASAT’s internal hashtags help readers navigate our website and discover related resources.

ASAT HashtagsThese hashtags organize our resources into several categories, including the age groups addressed, the audiences for whom an article may be most useful, the settings discussed, and the skills or topics covered. For example, #Parents, #Teachers, and #BehaviorAnalysts identify intended readership; #Communication, #Safety, and #Independence highlight skill areas; #Preschoolers and #Adolescents identify the age groups addressed; and #Home and #School identify the settings discussed. We also recently published an article introducing a hashtag specific to Profound Autism.

These hashtags are more than labels. They provide a practical way to identify relevant resources, connect with topics of interest, and share information with others who may find it useful. When you finish reading an ASAT article, take a moment to look at the green hashtags at the bottom of the page. Click on any hashtag that interests you to explore other ASAT resources on that topic. Whether you are a parent seeking practical guidance, an educator looking for classroom resources, a behavior analyst or other provider exploring a clinical topic, or a researcher investigating a specific area of autism treatment, the hashtags can help you find relevant content.

Our internal hashtag system helps make that possible. The next time you read an ASAT article, explore the green hashtags at the bottom of the page. One click may lead you to another resource, and then another, that addresses your interests or needs. Happy clicking!
